Day 1 - Hubby got Gastric & Gallstones!!!

16th September 2008 - My hubby got a very bad stomach ache since midnight. The pain was strong and disturb him from sleeping the whole night. In the morning, I convinced him that i'll be back from office to bring him to see doctor. Then my mom suggested to go Columbia Asia which is the 24 hrs private hospital and newly open in Taiping. So i let my hubby to decide whether to go there or choose to go Ng & Lim clinic. Then my hubby chose the nearest one, which is the Columbia Asia.

9.a.m

Reached receptionist for registration. Here the staff took my hubby photo to made the membership card. Fast and efficiently done. My hubby was the 333rd patient.

9.33am

We headed to the emergency room. The assistant nurse help my hubby to lie down on bed and ask some questions pertaining his ache. Then, gave my hubby a sip of 10ml white liquid to control the pain. Later, he inform my husband there will be another doctor to diagnosis his pain. A Malay doctor whom was in charged at the emergency room explained to my hubby to see the physician.

Every department has its own function and tasks. ER doctor will examine how bad it is and will treat your ache or wound for the temporary time spontaneously and effectively. Then have to get physician consultancy for further knowledge of the ache/illness. When the physician found out the answer or what causes the illness, then he will transfer the patient to the respective specialized in-house doctor to follow up. Eg: Dr. Shanker specialized in bones.

10.10am

My hubby was then seek the physician, Dr Arifin whom is the Group Medical Director of Columbia Asia. But the he was not around. While my hubby can't stand the pain anymore. We were restless, then i have to ask the nurse, how much longer we have to wait? "I'm sorry to tell you that Dr Arifin will have to go ward touring because there are 2 patients who had even more serious case to look into. He should be here any time" said the nurse. We waited and he came down from the stair case..hmm..he looks very professional to me. He sat and examine my hubby. Pressing his abdominal and later he asked the nurse to take my hubby for scanning.

Dr Arifin saw my husband walking into his room, then he inform the nurse that "Don't allow patient to walk while he/she is in pain, use the wheel chair to assist him/she to walk". The nurse noted with "Yes, doctor". Ok...he is caring enough.

10.25am

Another assistant helped my husband to get the body scanning. They took a few more shots because they found something in my hubby's body.

10.40am

Went inside Dr Arifin's room again and now he got the exact answer for my hubby. A report was shown immediately with the new technology from that scanning machine. Wow!!! He explain to my hubby's why his stomach ache suffering from. He told us not to worry so much. And again he added that, the most important is to heal his gastric pain first then only we see how to overcome the stones. I felt relief after hearing that. Thanked god is not that serious. Dr Arifin suggested that my husband have to admit one night for fully observations and monitoring.

11.15am

The nurse brought my husband to the patients room. Once entered the room, the nurse told us don't have to trouble ourselves to bring food as they are serving 8 meals a day. The main 3 courses: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, they have suitable menu for their patients to choose from. I let my hubby to get some rest, while i went back to pack some of his clothes. Last but not least, i able to took some photos from Columbia Asia - 21st Century Healthcare hospital. He..He..He...
