Jonker Street @ Day & Night
I've brought you guys over the trishaw rides, a boat cruise down Melaka River and both make a different kind of sight seeing around Melaka. Jonker Street is another happening spot that you mustn't miss when you visit Melaka.
Hubby told us that Jonker Street is now called Jalan Hang Jebat. The privilege being Jetty Suites Apartment's guest. We have free parking at Jonker Boutique Hotel. Both are from the same company group. Since it was free, we go to and fro for 3 times at Jonker Street.
During the day.....
This is Melaka famous beaded shoe - handmade. A pair of shoe cost from RM180 and above. Smaller beads design will cost higher. That pattern the lady is sewing will probably takes 1-2mths time. Some it takes years to finish one pair of shoe.
There are many antique shops during the day...
I spotted these paintings for sales along the roadside.
As we walk, we found many magnets display- only get those special ones which can resembles Melaka city and "Kak Kiak" - wooden clogs are everywhere. Herbal drinks, coconuts drinks and durians easily spotted here because of the hot weather.
Walk here and there, then we stop by at Geographer Cafe. Luckily it's air conditioned.
We even found this famous shop selling pineapple tarts.
Later in the evening around 4.30pm, we had our tea time meal. Hehehe... this is also our makan trip.
Brought some local delicacies from Melaka. Cincaluk, dodol, palm sugar - Gula Melaka and their egg noodle.

Night Market
Only Friday and Saturday night, Jonker Street/road will be strictly close for their night market operation. So if you want to come over here, please remember to come here on Friday and Saturday. Hubby said just like Taipei night market.
Many snack to choose from along the crowded area. That night was after a heavy rain, we thought we missed it, but then rains top around 9pm. Yes, we made it to the night market at Jonker Street.
This is something cute and it is a new trend to have this at Melaka. Funny egg ice-cream.
It was Calvin first time having it - Tornado Potato.
The Jonker 88 photo was during the day. So during at night, we went to the shop next to Jonker88 to try their laksa and again Cendol. Yumz... I still prefer our Northern laksa. Even my mum cooks better.
When your leg is tired, you can always get a cab or this trishaw. They are very happy to send you home.

The magnets is nice and cute...

I love Melaka for its petite size and tranquil ambiance. Once I followed a friend there who had to audit work at their bank branch. I stayed at the hotel free for 1 week and walked the whole town alone! I ended up broke by just buying antiques and that was over 20 years ago.
ReplyDeleteOh there are lots of antique shops...
DeleteMe,save a lot this time. I didnt get anything also. Eat only.
I must say again that all your photos are colourful and exciting to lure any tourist.
