Angiogram – bypass surgery
Last week, my father went for an angiogram test. The test shown 3 blood vessels are severely blocked. My father was advised by the physician that he need to do bypass surgery as soon as possible. How could this be? Some of you must be asking why? Out of sudden?
A couple of months back, my father already gets a referring letter to Penang GH and IJN from Taiping GH. But the scheduled for the angiogram test was far too long, next year somewhere in Feb and Apr.
My father did mention to us about this matter, so papa decided to go for the check up after GE13. Then, my mom told me that a day before GE13, he’s not feeling well. Something is not right. Probably, the God gave him a signal to go through the angiogram test as soon as possible.
My father’s friend whom is also a doctor and had experienced bypass surgery at IJN advised my father to do angiogram test at Pantai Hospital, Ipoh. Everyone and even I thought that he only needs a stent or many people will call it a “balloon” angioplasty. But the result gave us a shock that he need to undergo bypass surgery. Why? When a blood vessels is blocked severely 60% and below, it is advisable to go for a balloon. But, my father had 3 vessels blocked and one of it is blocked 80%. So the best is to does the surgery before it gets worsen.
My 60 years old papa thinks positively all the way. Since he knows how far he can go, he decided to undergo the surgery. This matter can be quite serious if he drags too long.
Mark down the surgery date on the 14th May 2013, my papa now is stabilized after 5hours of surgery. He is right now in the intensive care room at Pantai Hospital, Ipoh before move to normal patient room. Dr Farid the surgeon gave my papa a “Thumbs Up” gesture and mentioned my papa heart beat is very stable during the operation. Yeap, the surgery is very successful. Thank to God!

oh, great to hear that your father is recovering fast and is in good condition now.. even the doctor gave him a thumbs up!! that means your father is probably more healthy than you now, hehe~~ :)
ReplyDeleteyes, it's better to get things ironed out earliest possible.. i just like how positive your father is, he knows his problem and he wants to get rid of it for his own health.. unlike many elderly when they heard about their sickness, they became very pessimistic and do not want to do anything about it..
ReplyDeleteAngeline's father is very optimistic and now I know his daughter inherits the same :)

ReplyDeleteHealth is wealth, we must take good care and go for annual check up.
Wishing your father a smooth recovery. My 72 years old mother in law was also advised to go for bypass but she does not want to do that so she is now on medication therapy only and so far so good.
ReplyDeleteReally? Good for her.
DeleteCos she says at 72 years old, she was afraid of not being able to survive the surgery. If she was younger, she would do it. Good to know your father's bypass went well and he is now on his way to full recovery. Best wishes!
DeleteMun, yeah have to consider her age as well.
