Nyonya Kuih

This morning after taken our breakfast at Taiping Casual Market, suddenly craving for some traditional Nyonya Kuih. So i bought some back home for lunch. There are so many types of kuih and make you don't know which one to choose from. Its so colourful and yet so tempting to eat. Its definitely a great snack to eat. Usually the stall owner will only started their business at noon. But somehow, while the Nyonya Kuih seller and his daughter was arranging at the stall, people already started to buy from them. Yeap, including me standing beside and waiting for my turn. Today i bought 8 pieces cost me for RM3.20 Ringgit Malaysia. So, it is 40 cents per piece.

White: Kuih Bengka is a very fine kuih and really taste good.

Blue: Kuih Kaya - usually will be given with "kaya" to consume with this, taste lovely.

Yellow: Kuih Bingka Ubi like the chewy taste which is made from tapioca.

Orange: Kuih Lapis - layered like rainbow colour.

  1. Hello Angeline, wow! I love these nyonya kuehs.
I remember back in the 70s and early '80s, I used to stop by Taiping for poh pia, and there was this Nyonya lady selling her cakes.

My wife not a Nyonya, but she one smart cookie, to sangkut me big time, she learned to cook and make Nyonya cakes, and food.
Today everyone mistakes her for a Nyonya, only she can't speak Malay, maybe 7 words, ha ha.
    Nice pic of the kuehs.
You have a nice day and keep a song in your heart, Lee.
